A fabulous TV animated series about a mouse secret agent and his nervous but trusty hamster sidekick.
Story
Danger Mouse, secret agent, and his sidekick Penfold (a hamster) have a mission to save the world, mostly from arch villain Baron Greenback (a toad) and his henchman Stilletto (a crow). Their handler is Colonel K (a chinchilla). The narrator frequently speaks directly both to the viewer and to the characters.
Why we chose it
Mention Danger Mouse to anyone who grew up watching television in the 1980s and they will probably smile.
Where it came from
Danger Mouse was based on a 1960s television series Danger Man. The character of Penfold came from a doodle of Brain Cosgrove’s brother. Danger Mouse is a mouse living in a human world – so though he drives a car he could still be trodden on! David Jason was the voice of Danger Mouse and Terry Scott voiced Penfold.
Where it went next
Danger Mouse was sold to America in 1984.
It ran in the UK until 1992 and was then revived in 2015 by Fremantle Media with Brian Cosgrove as a creative consultant. In the 2015 version Alexander Armstrong voices DangerMouse and Kevin Eldon Penfold.
A game Danger Mouse:The Danger Games was released in 2017.
Associated stories
Count Duckula, first shown in 1988, was made by the same team and also voiced by David Jason.
