Story

The story of a disasterous trip to the supermarket with Eddie a lively toddler who hates the trolley but is particularly fond of beans and chocolate.

Why we chose it

Anyone who has ever been in a supermarket with a toddler will find this familiar.

Michael Rosen wrote a number of poems about his son Eddie as a toddler -about the funny moments and the everyday dramas of toddler life.

Michael wrote a number of poems about Eddie which have been included in a number of anthologies. Favourites include Eddie and the Nappy, Eddie and the Gerbils, Eddie and the Birthday and Eddie in Bed.

Eddie died of meningitis aged 18. After his death Rosen wrote The Sad Book, a picture book about how he felt after Eddie’s death and one of the best books ever written about bereavement for adults or children.
