Encouraged by his editor to write his first picture book Sam McBratney created the text. Anita Jerom’s beautiful watercolour illustrations give it a timeless feel.
Where it went next
It has sold over 47 million copies and been translated into 57 languages. Its 25th anniversary special editions have proved as popular as they were when it first came out. It frequently appears on list of the most popular children’s books.
Associated stories
Author and illustrator worked together on another picture book, You’re All My Favourites in 2004 and in 2007 produced a series of storybooks about the Nutbrown Hares which includes the seasonally themed, Guess How Much I Love You in the Spring, Guess How Much I Love You in the Summer, Guess How Much I Love You in the Autumn and Guess How Much I Love You in the Winter.
